500 days until the 2027 World Rowing Championships!

In just 500 days, Lucerne will welcome the World Rowing Championships. From 23 to 29 August 2027, the Rotsee will once again become the stage for world-class rowing, drawing the attention of the international rowing community to one of the sport’s most prestigious venues. The championships will be a major international sporting event for Lucerne, combining elite competition, emotion and the unique setting of the city and the lake.

A sports-festival for everyone
The 2027 championships will bring athletes from around the world to Lucerne and place the region firmly at the centre of international sport in the pre-Olympic year. The event is not only one of the most important highlights of the rowing season, but also a key milestone on the road to the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Los Angeles in 2028. In addition to the racing on the Rotsee, medal ceremonies and a public event programme are planned in Lucerne’s city centre. The aim is to create a true celebration of sport that reaches far beyond the rowing community. A central part of this experience will be the planned championship village, helping make the event visible, accessible and engaging for a broad public.

Schindler is joining as main partner
One important signal on the road to 2027 is the partnership with Schindler. The Lucerne-based company, which has supported rowing in the region for many years, is joining the World Rowing Championships 2027 as Main Partner, underlining the significance of the event for Lucerne and beyond.
