Regatta

The LUCERNE REGATTA ranks among the world’s most traditional and prestigious rowing events. For more than a century, the Rotsee has been a stage for outstanding sporting performances and international competition.
The World Rowing Cup Lucerne features races in both Olympic and Paralympic boat classes. Across several days of competition, the world’s leading athletes compete in heats, semi-finals, and finals.
The programme is complemented by the Talents Cup, a development competition for selected U17 athletes, as well as the Masters Trophy, an exclusive race format for ambitious Masters crews.

Para-rowing

Since 2023, the LUCERNE REGATTA has also welcomed para-athletes. With the introduction of para rowing, the LUCERNE REGATTA has strengthened its commitment to supporting and promoting para rowing in Switzerland. In this context, we work closely with SWISS ROWING and interested rowing clubs across Switzerland, assisting them in the introduction and development of their para rowing programmes. The coordination and expertise of Fransiska Bossuyt, head of para-rowing within the Organising Committee, have played a central role in this process.

Made Possible Through the Support of Partners
With more than 120 years of experience in organising rowing regattas, the Organising Committee has successfully mastered numerous challenges. The introduction of para rowing marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter. In this context, the expertise and support of various partner organisations are of great importance. In Suva, a key integration partner has been secured to support the project over the long term. Suva has been actively involved in disability sport for many years as an integration partner. Suva has been actively involved in disability sport for many years as an integration partner. The aim of this commitment is to provide individuals affected by accidents with the opportunity to participate in competitions in Switzerland as para-athletes. Sport plays an important role in fostering social reintegration, while athletes themselves serve as powerful role models within society.

The LUCERNE REGATTA’s Contribution to the Development of Para Rowing in Switzerland
As an event organiser, the LUCERNE REGATTA Association is committed to contributing to a more inclusive society, extending beyond the LUCERNE REGATTA itself. Para rowing in Switzerland is still at an early stage of development. For this reason, we work closely with SWISS ROWING and, with the support of the Stiftung Sportförderung Schweiz (SFS) and our partners, implement targeted measures to promote para rowing – from youth development through to recreational sport.

Para Rowing Information

SWISS ROWING is committed to promoting para-rowing so that rowing is lived and perceived as an inclusive sport. For us, inclusion means sharing our passion for rowing with everyone and enjoying it together. With our events and offers, we want to create opportunities and make rowing accessible to all people with or without disabilities.

As the umbrella organization for Swiss sport, Swiss Olympic stands for the promotion and support of inclusion in all areas of sport.

This module shows how sports clubs can become inclusive communities where people with different abilities and backgrounds are equally welcome and can actively participate. Inclusion is a fundamental principle that aims to recognize diversity, break down barriers and offer equal opportunities to all people.

Sport is often seen as the ideal platform for promoting inclusion. But what does inclusion actually mean for clubs and how does it differ from integration?

The development of para-rowing in Switzerland is in full swing! Get in touch with us today and we will be happy to put you in touch with the nearest rowing club that could help you get started in para-rowing or answer any questions you may have.
